Leadership at the BSU
The Baptist Student Union at Southern Miss is under the guidance of two full-time campus ministers.
Lloyd Lunceford- BSU Director

I came to be Director of the BSU at Southern Miss in July, 1991. My heart is to mobilize university students to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations. God has richly blessed me with a ministry that allows me to share the message of salvation and the challenge of the Great Commission to the greatest resource on earth—The University of Southern Miss. He used BSU to define my call to ministry 40 years ago and has provided a place of service to students for the past 38 years. I served in East Asia from 1988-1991 where I learned Mandarin Chinese. This has opened many doors of ministry and given me great opportunities to share with international students and challenge students to step out of the comfort of Mississippi and let God use them across His world.
Kris Walters- BSU Assistant Director
I’m the Associate Director of the Southern Miss BSU. I’ve been working at the USM BSU for 17 years. My role is whatever Lloyd tells me to do! Ha! I enjoy walking alongside students in this really important time of life. I also enjoy helping them get out of Mississippi by taking them or sending them on mission trips. My wife (Presley) and I have been married for 14 years. We have three kids who are all in grade school. I am an avid Southern Miss football, baseball and basketball fan. My favorite sport is baseball and will watch all levels of it. (little league to MLB). My favorite scripture verse is John 1:12 – “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name He gave the right to become children of God.”
